MEXICAN SALSA
Ingredients:
1 medium tomato, finely diced
1/4 cup red onion, finely chopped
1/4 cup cilantro, chopped
1/2 small jalapeño or chili pepper, finely chopped (adjust to taste)
Juice of 1/2 lime
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
Finely dice the tomato, chop the red onion and cilantro, and finely chop the jalapeño or chili pepper. Remove seeds for milder salsa, if desired.
In a bowl, combine the diced tomato, chopped red onion, cilantro, and jalapeño. Squeeze the juice of half a lime over the salsa ingredients. Adjust the amount of lime juice based on your preference for acidity.
Season the salsa with salt and pepper to taste. Mix well to combine all the ingredients evenly.
For enhanced flavor, you can refrigerate the salsa for 15–30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld together.
Notes:
This salsa recipe is light and refreshing, with minimal calories and lots of flavor from fresh ingredients.
You can customize the heat level by adjusting the amount of jalapeño or chili pepper used.
Fresh salsa is best enjoyed immediately but can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
